Born in Boston, he lived in Dorchester and Brighton until 1984, when he moved to Brockton. He lived in Andover at the Granview Terrace elderly housing until 1995 when he moved to Maynard. He and his wife Marion were a vaudeville dancing act from the late 20's until 1947 performing under the name of Fitz and Carroll. During WWII they served in the USO performing throughout Europe and the Pacific. During the occupation they performed for Troops in Germany and Japan.
