Carlyle, Macie T., 81, of Bladenboro died Tuesday at Bladen County Hospital. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Friday at New Light Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery. Lewis Funeral Home, Bladenboro.

Clemmer, Bobby Graham, 63, of 810 Elizabeth Drive, Oak Island, died Sunday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Arrangements will be announced by Peaco*ck-Newnam Funeral Home, Southport.

Daniel, Hector Vann "Andy", 66, of Elizabethtown died Tuesday at Bladen County Hospital. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Wesley’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Kinlaw Funeral Home, Elizabethtown.

Jolly, William Patrick, 33, of 1002 N. Caswell Ave., Southport, died Monday at Dosher Memorial Hospital. Arrangements will be announced by McCoy Greene Funeral Home, Southport.

McKoy, Willie, 60, of 416 W. Virgil St., Whiteville, died Sunday at Southeastern Regional Medical Center, Lumberton. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Holiness Church. Burial will be in Millican Cemetery. Peoples Funeral Home, Whiteville.

Williamson, Douglas Cecil, 65, of Clarkton, formerly of Evergreen, died Monday at Duke University Medical Center. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Williamson’s Crossroads Baptist Church. Burial will be in Singletary Cemetery, Bladenboro. Worthington Funeral Home, Chadbourn.

Pi Yau "James" Chow, age 76, died at his home on Monday, July 2, 2001, in Cary, NC.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Jones Funeral Home of Onslow County in Jacksonville, NC. Family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the funeral home.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Hang-Ching Chow; three sons, Tony Chow of Jacksonville, Sidney Chow and wife Yuan of Wilmington and Ray Chow of Raleigh; four daughters, Connie Chow of Cary, Mei-Ling Chau of Wilmington, Lily Chow of Selma, Alabama, Mei-yiu Williams and husband Michael of Raleigh; thirteen grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Grandchildren: Chris of Jacksonville, Amy Locklear and husband Bennie of Michigan, Kevin Dai of Raleigh, Shannon Claus and husband Chris of Jacksonville, Nicholas and Mandy Chow of Jacksonville, Justin, Christine and Eric Chow of Wilmington; Wei-Lin and Chuan-Han Foo of Wilmington, Brandon and Alex Williams of Raleigh; Great-grandchildren: Bennie, Brian, Jadon and Daylon Locklear of Michigan, Dallas Claus of Jacksonville.

MRS. GEORGIE E. FRANKS

Mrs. Georgie E. Franks, of 6811 Wrightsville Avenue, died Sunday at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Matthew AME Church. Interment will follow in Pine Forest Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mr. Harrell Alphonso Franks; daughter, Mrs. Dorothy King and her husband, Jimmy, of Auburn Hills, Michigan; other relatives and friends.

Visitation may be made this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Adkins-Drain, Southside Chapel.

MISS GERETTA ’GERRY’ MAYHEW BUIE

PINK HILL - Miss Geretta "Gerry" Mayhew Buie, 78, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, in Raleigh after an extended illness. She was the daughter of Mitchell Mayhew Buie and Rowena Meares Buie of Clarkton.

She is survived by five sisters, Billie Beasley of Reidsville, GA, Dorethea Thompson of Vidalia, GA, Opal Berly of Raleigh, Rowena Buie of Pink Hill and Mary Little of Holden Beach.

A graveside service will be held at White Plains Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Council, NC, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2001.

THURMAN WELLINGTON SHINGLETON

Thurman Wellington Shingleton of Hampstead, NC, died Monday, July 2, 2001, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 4, 1920, in Hampstead, NC, son of the late Richard Thomas and Clementina Ketchum Shingleton.

Mr. Shingleton was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hampstead, NC, where he served in various positions throughout his life, including Branch President, member of the Bishopric, and High Priest Group Leader. The work he enjoyed the most by far was as a Temple Worker in the Washington, DC, Temple where he served for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth N. Parker Shingleton of the home; two sons, Farnell Shingleton of Hampstead, NC, and Ralph Shingleton of Wilmington, NC; two daughters, Gwen Hobbs of Apex, NC, and Reva Inman and husband Billy of Wilmington, NC. His four children were through his marriage to Mary Lucille Futch, his first wife of 40 years, who preceded him in death. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Sandy Shingleton Hutchens, Jeff Shingleton, Michael Shingleton, Lisa and Adam Lewis and Justin and Meghan Shingleton; two great-granddaughters, Gracie and Maggie Hutchens; two step-children, Doug Harper and wife Polly of Hollister, CA, and Sharon Nixon and husband Wayne of Hertford, NC; four step-grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Tyler and Kyle Nixon; and four sisters, Frances Parsons, Clementina Sparks, Florence Earl, all of Salt Lake City, UT, and Elsie Mathis of Fayetteville, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hampstead by Bishop Mike McLeod. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, NC.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Andrews Mortuary, Hampstead Chapel.

CLARENCE HENRY MOORE

Clarence Henry Moore, a loving husband, father and grandfather departed this life on Saturday, June 30, 2001, at 4:00 a.m. at River Haven Nursing Home in Georgetown, Texas. He was born October 8, 1928, to the late David and Martha Moore of Riegelwood, NC, who preceded him in death. Clarence, a former resident of Abilene, Texas, resided with his daughter and son-in-law for the past two years in the Austin area.

He was a member of the Fellowship at Forest Creek in Round Rock, Texas. Clarence retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after serving for twenty-eight years. In addition, he was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service for twelve years. He was driven by the feeling of accomplishment that he derived from his work and his willingness to always give his best at whatever the task may be, small or large.

Clarence leaves to cherish his memories: Henri Faye Moore, his loving and devoted wife of forty-two years; a son, Chief Master Sergeant Clarence Henry Moore Jr. (Senior Master Sergeant, Mercedes), Honolulu, Hawaii; a daughter, Jacqueline Moore Porter (Wes), Pflugerville, Texas; five grandchildren, Lakia, Melanie, Chelsea, Joshua and Ciara; two brothers, James Moore (Gloria), Riegelwood, NC, Ernest Moore, Sussex, PA; seven sisters, Mary Jackson (Rev. Wylie Jackson), Wilmington, NC, Lessie Smith (Morris), Bolton, NC, Bertha Patrick, Rose Keith (J.D.), Marie Andrews (William), all of Riegelwood, NC, Martha Sutton (Rev.A.B. Sutton Sr.), Charlotte, NC, and Deborah Gibbs (William) of Wilmington, NC; two aunts, Mary Brown, Riegelwood, NC, and Almeta Roberson, St. Albans, NY; one brother-in-law, Louis Clark (Inez), Odessa, TX; four sisters-in-law, Johnnie Mae Organ, Ballinger, TX, Helen Edwards (Walter), Virginia Davis, both of Los Angeles, CA, Dorothy Williams (Jimmy), San Diego, CA; 21 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the River Haven nursing staff for their care and concern demonstrated over the last year.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, Pflugerville, TX. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 followed by the burial. A reception will follow the burial at the Fellowship of Forest Creek, Round Rock, TX.

RILEY THOMAS SMITH

Riley Thomas Smith, age 78, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Andrews Mortuary, Market Street Chapel, by Rev. Horace Hilton. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends following the service at the residence, 206 Keaton Ave.
